 In Fishkind Commentaries

Question: What can we expect from this year’s budget proposal by Florida Gov. Rick Scott?

Fishkind: Well so far, beyond the tax cuts, which are really the cornerstone of this budget, he’s announced that there will be an increase in transportation spending by about $200 million, from $8.6 billion this year to $8.8 billion, most of that for seaport improvements. He’s also said that there will be an increase of $55 million to protect Florida’s springs, another $60-odd million to promote tourism and $30 million for job training. And he’s going to extend the sales tax holiday about 10 days, which is very popular.
