WMFE – Two recent reports on Florida’s employment growth and population are somewhat confusing. The most recent jobs figures showed a month-to-month loss of 39 thousand jobs while the unemployment rate continued to fall but only slightly.’
Meanwhile, a new report from demographers at the University of Florida shows the state’s population growing by about 104 thousand during 2011 and a growing population usually means more people in the work force.
Economic analyst Hank Fishkind says he has problems with the methodology behind both of these reports. 90.7’s Tom Parkinson asked him to first discuss the recent jobs figures from the state.
